We tried the reuben and a grilled chicken sammie special. The reuben was OK but the grilled chicken sammie lacked seasoning. Waitress checked on us when we were just about finished. The cream of turkey soup was ok.
I’m going back when in town again. The food was delicious and the customer service was amazing. The facility was clean and decor just like you think it is looking at the outside.
Stopped while heading home from up north. Very cozy and dark interior but with enough light to see well. We ordered sandwiches and drinks which came quickly. Sandwiches did include a small side of fresh veggies & dill dip. The sandwiches had very generous portions of meat and unique buns. Staff was very courteous and checked back often. We would definitely stop again. Nice selection of tap & bottled beers, too.
Went to this establishment around 3 PM on a Saturday. Came up for the Packer game the next day. The place was close to the hotel so we figured we’d give it a shot. The places was very slow, but somehow the waitress managed to not get our food order in the 15 minutes we were there. Finally I asked after about the 9th time she walked passed if she could take our order. She said she took care of regulars first. We immediately finished our drinks and walked out. Never have we been so disrespected in the food service industry. Hopefully they treat other non locals better than us because they’ve lost our business for good.
What a GREAT find!!!! This place was close to my hotel on a work trip. The atmosphere was VERY reminiscent of a 1970s type place you'd go with your parents as a kid. It was very clean, and the service was IMPECCABLE! I was recommended the French Onion Soup and the Ruben Sandwich. Definitely a GREAT choice!!!! For someone that travels a lot for work and eats "junk" a lot....it was nice to sit down and enjoy a dinner with 70s childhood vibes!
Truly a hidden gem. I was very impressed with the value of the items on the menu! Can't beat the speed of service! The staff was wonderful also.
Stopped at Friar's on a Saturday during bunch. The restaurant side of it was consistently packed, with people waiting for tables. I opted to sit at the bar. I got a few drinks and the French onion soup. The drinks were poured well, the soup was decent, and the service was good. It was full of regulars who were joyful to speak with. I will return next time I'm in the area.
Food and service were good. Atmosphere is dark inside and a bit dated. Bathroom needs work, handicap bathroom didn't have a door on it, one toilet plugged up. Other stall usable. Food outweighed the negatives. Clam chowder was good.
